Just In: Alabama’s 5-star wide receiver decommits

Jaime Ffrench committed to Alabama last July and was ranked as one of the top prospects in his class.

Jaime Ffrench, a highly ranked 2025 wide receiver, announced his decommitment from Alabama on Sunday evening.

Ffrench committed to Alabama in July and was ranked No. 29 overall in the 2025 class by 247 Sports, with a four-star rating. With a five-star rating, he is ranked No. 11 nationally in 247 Sports’ industry composite.

Tight ends coach Joe Cox, who was Ffrench’s major recruiter at Alabama, is not anticipated to be retained by Kalen DeBoer’s new coaching staff. Nick Sheridan is set to replace DeBoer as tight ends coach.

Ffrench told Noles247’s Zac Blostein last week that Cox notified him of Nick Saban’s retirement. Ffrench still intends to visit Tuscaloosa and has scheduled a call with the incoming staff for Monday.

“What I just took from the staff that’s still there at ‘Bama who didn’t leave, they told me nobody is not going to want Jaime Ffrench when they walk through the door,” he went on to say. “So just wait and see what happens.” If I’m not feeling their vibe, I’ll move on. That’s when I’ll respond.”

The Mandarin standout from Jacksonville (Fla.) stated Florida State was the main danger to lure him away from Alabama.

“Definitely Florida State, they’re number one right now,” Ffrench went on to say. “Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, Miami, and South Carolina are all possibilities.” A lot of schools I’ve never heard of. Texas A&M, too, with coach [Holmon] Wiggins. Just a bunch of local schools — nothing West Coast, North, or anything like that. It’s all about the locals.”

Ffrench is Alabama’s second wide receiver to decommit since Saban’s retirement. Approximately a month after reclassifying, 2024 five-star receiver Ryan Williams withdrew his promise from the Tide.

Alabama still has six commitments for its 2025 class, which is ranked sixth in 247 Sports’ team rankings.
