Just In: 20-year-old star shares heartfelt message following his departure

Omari Hutchinson bids farewell to Chelsea fans with Instagram message.

As he completed his permanent move to Ipswich Town, Omari Hutchinson sent a farewell message to the Chelsea faithful via Instagram.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan with the Tractor Boys, who achieved back-to-back promotions under Kieran McKenna to return to the Premier League after a 22-year hiatus.

According to Sky Sports, the contract is for £18 million, plus performance-related bonuses. While the sum is very large, it demonstrates how highly the Blues consider the teenager’s potential.

Hutchinson spent four years with Chelsea as a child (2008-12) before moving on to the Charlton Athletic and Arsenal academies (2012-14 and 2015-22, respectively). He returned to Chelsea’s youth for a year (2022-23) before getting into the senior squad. He made two senior appearances for the Blues before joining Ipswich Town on a season-long loan.

Hutchinson and Town begin their 2024/25 Premier League season against Liverpool on August 17.

Hutchinson a causality of Chelsea’s PSR targets

Chelsea would have wanted to have a player as dynamic as Hutchinson on their roster, but they also needed to book the pure profit from selling an academy product to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and continue their buying spree.

As a result of Chelsea’s situation, Hutchinson is transformed into a causality. Of course, he has a better chance of success at Ipswich Town, where he will get more minutes, and one wishes him the best of luck, but Chelsea must also play their cards wisely this season.

Hutchinson’s return to Stamford Bridge cannot be ruled out in the near future.
