Juninho Bacuna breaks dressing room hush following Birmingham City relegation

In an emotional address to Birmingham City supporters, Juninho Bacuna apologised for the club’s relegation to League One.

Bacuna is the first player to officially address the club’s relegation through his own media. John Ruddy, the stand-in captain, addressed with the media following the Championship season’s last day.

Bacuna apologised to everyone affiliated with the club, Birmingham City, and its fans. This was not the season we had expected or hoped for. You all stood behind us, and we let you down.

“I have no words for it, but one thing is certain: the club will be back where it belongs. Trust the process.

Bacuna is among those whose fates are now uncertain. The Curacao international is under contract for another year, although it is unclear whether he will return to League One.

Bacuna had an acceptable individual campaign, scoring nine goals and assisting six times across all competitions. Only top striker Jay Stansfield matched Bacuna’s 15 goal total for the Blues previous season.
