Journalist claims the 43-year-old will be on Millwall’s mind following the club’s split from Gary Rowett.

Gary Rowett and Millwall said their goodbyes last night, having worked together for four years at The Den.

The Millwall team is now searching for their next manager.

The Lions, who gave Rowett plenty of time to attempt to get the team into the top six, are unfamiliar with the procedure. But despite his greatest efforts and increasing top-level investment, Millwall was unable to exactly make the breakthrough.

A few managers are unemployed at the moment, but it’s unclear where Millwall would search for them—inside or outside of England.

John Eustace, though, is one manager who is presently available. This month, Birmingham City controversially fired the 43-year-old, and Wayne Rooney took his place.

Additionally, journalist Darren Witcoop believes that Millwall will undoubtedly keep Eustace in mind when they look for a new manager.

On X, he posted:

“It felt like, following Millwall’s collapse last season, Gary Rowett was always swimming against the tide.” The odd timing, however, leads one to believe that a manager has already designated. John Eustace, who left Rowett’s former team, Birmingham, will undoubtedly be on people’s minds.”

Millwall to Eustace?

Eustace to Millwall makes perfect sense, timing-wise. And while Rowett did a fantastic job at The Den, Eustace might be a tactical upgrade over the late Millwall manager. All due respect.

He demonstrated his excellent tactical acumen as a manager and coach with Birmingham City. He departed Blues in sixth place in the table and was a highly popular figure both inside the club and among the supporters, demonstrating his recent experience.

Everything hinges on the direction the Lions wish to go with their incoming manager. They have a solid group of players, and with some minor adjustments, they should have no trouble breaking into the top six.

For the match against Preston North End this weekend, Adam Barrett will serve as interim manager.
