Jeff Stelling Incredible Admission On Current Ipswich Town Form

Jeff Stelling revealed he has been surprised by Ipswich Town’s form and their ability to keep up with “juggernauts” Leeds United, Leicester City, and Southampton.

Given their financial discrepancy, the iconic broadcaster maintained that the fans would have accepted a mid-table finish following their promotion from League One last year.

Being able to compete with Leeds, Leicester, and Southampton has propelled Ipswich to the top of the table heading into the games on April 1, one point ahead of Daniel Farke’s side.

Stelling stated live on talkSPORT [06:55]: “Leeds, Leicester, and Southampton are juggernauts. Ipswich lacks the necessary financial resources. I believe most Ipswich fans would have settled for the top half of the table.

“The most impressive thing to me was that they had a pretty indifferent run and you assumed that was it, that they were done, but not at all. It’s a truly fantastic narrative.

Ipswich to push Leeds United all the way in promotion battle

With only seven games remaining, we are still no closer to understanding the conclusion of the title and promotion competitions, with Leicester, Leeds, and Ipswich all holding the lead at different points in the last two weeks.

Leeds realize they still have a fight on their hands to earn automatic promotion from the Championship, or perhaps the title, given the standard established by their opponents.

Leicester defender Wout Faes, meanwhile, spoke out about the “crazy” promotion fight, insisting that the Foxes are still as determined as ever to win the league and the promotion to the Premier League that comes with it.

Going into the final stretch of the season, all four of the top teams will know they have a chance of achieving automatic promotion, while two will have to face the uncertainty of the playoffs.
