‘It gets us up in the morning’: Vincent Kompany on his drive to disprove his doubters

Vincent Kompany, the manager of Burnley, is driven by a desire to disprove those who doubt him.

This weekend, the Clarets travel to North London to play Arsenal in an attempt to snap a five-game losing streak across all competitions.

With just four points so far, Kompany’s team is in second place in the table after four of those defeats occurred in the league.

Burnley has already been written off by many observers, and a quick return to the Championship may be in the works.

However, Kompany maintains that the team “lives” to demonstrate that they belong in the top division and have enough assets to finish outside of the bottom three by May of the following year.

The Burnley manager remarked, “You can’t believe how much the whole club feels that way.” It keeps us up at night and wakes us up every morning.

“That’s what the entire club is all about.”

Burnley’s strategy in the top flight is under scrutiny after they have lost nine of their first games this season.

“Just working on the basics time and time again, making sure we give them support but okay, it’s something we could have predicted before the start of the season,” Kompany responded when asked what could be done to address the issues. You are forced to make a wide range of mistakes when you are exposed to the greatest level. But the learning curve is high.

It’s an opportunity for them to grow and join this elite level by comparing themselves to the best.

“What will irritate me in the event that there is insufficient effort. Though it would make my blood boil to talk about habits and standards, there isn’t a lack of effort.

Each successful team is built on the efforts of its entire squad, which consists of players who give it their all every day, as well as the staff.

“I see them every single day on the training ground. There is talking about success and how you achieve it, which is a set of behaviors.”
