Ipswich Town will look for a new striker in January, and much to £3 million might be made available, according to Patreon writer Alan Nixon.

Ipswich Town is in the running for promotion to the Premier League in 2024. Many expected the Tractor Boys to be successful on their return to the Championship, but placing second in the table with 52 points from 22 games is exceeding expectations.

Kieran McKenna has enjoyed such success with a roster that is mostly comprised of players that helped him and the club advance from League One. However, it has recently been reported that a large sum of money could be added in January.

Alan Nixon has revealed on his Patreon page that Ipswich Town will support their Northern Irish manager with a high-priced striker acquisition in the winter.

They’re looking for another goal scorer and are willing to pay up to £3 million for the right individual. Town is also willing to pay competitive wages, with roughly £15,000 per week being offered.

Ipswich going big

Given just how good Ipswich Town have been and the fantastic position they sit in, it feels like the right time for them to go big in the transfer market. They’ve got the financial backing and after keeping things fairly tame in the summer, it’s not a surprise they’ve got money to spend.

It is intriguing that a new striker is what they’re ready to splash the cash on. George Hirst has really stepped up to Championship level with six goals and six assists in 21 league games.

Beyond him, striker depth is there, but it could be strengthened. McKenna also has Freddie Ladapo, Kayden Jackson and loan man Dane Scarlett available as options, so it will be interesting to see just who emerges on Town’s radar this winter.
