According to John Wenham, Ipswich Town and several other Premier League clubs are considering a transfer for Tottenham defender Djed Spence.

The owner of the famous Spurs podcast, Lilywhite Rose, has suggested that the Tractor Boys may attempt to sign the 23-year-old as the transfer window advances.

According to BBC Sport (3 July), Genoa were unable to reach a deal with Tottenham to sign Spence at a reduced fee.

And Wenham, speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, feels other clubs may now step forward.

“Spence has returned for pre-season training, and it looks like a move to Genoa has stalled,” Wenham told reporters.

“I still believe he will depart, and I imagine some Premier League interest may arise. Ipswich Town, for example, may consider moving for him if other targets are not met.

Djed Spence to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

It’s impossible to imagine Spence playing consistently for Ange Postecoglou.

He would undoubtedly be second choice to Pedro Porro. And, with the addition of the versatile Archie Gray, he could potentially be third in the pecking order at right back.

As a result, he will most likely want to go permanently in order to play regular first-team football.

And if a club like Ipswich steps forward, he may get exactly what he wants.

Spence has never really been given an opportunity in North London, and he is likely to be upset with how things have turned out.

However, it does not appear that sticking around will benefit anyone. Therefore, a lasting solution must be developed.
