Dara O’Shea, a Burnley defender, has turned down a move to Ipswich Town in favour of Brentford, according to Football Insider sources.

Ipswich and Brentford, both new Premier League clubs, are interested in signing the 25-year-old centre-back to improve their defensive options.

However, O’Shea has turned down Ipswich’s interest in order to sign with Brentford before the transfer window closes.

Brentford and Burnley are in talks about O’Shea, with the Bees hoping to win the battle to sign the defender.

Despite Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League last season, the center defense was one of the club’s bright spots.

Last season, O’Shea was classified as the Premier League’s eighth fastest player. The only defenders faster than him were Tottenham Hotspur’s Micky van de Ven and AFC Bournemouth’s Ilya Zabarnyi, who achieved higher’max speeds’.

The centre-back is equally effective in both areas, with O’Shea scoring three goals and assisting four others in the Premier League, putting him second in the league and fourth in Europe’s top five leagues in terms of non-penalty goal contributions from centre-backs.

Burnley currently has an abundance of riches at centre-back, with seven first-team players on its books, but this may not last much longer.

Football Insider revealed (August 1) that Bristol City, Stoke, and Birmingham City are plotting moves for Burnley defender Luke McNally.
