Ipswich Town players ridicule Sky Sports commentator and bash Leeds during noisy promotion parade.

Ipdwich Town defeated Leeds United to second place in the Championship on the final day of the season, and the Tractor Boys’ promotion party has seen some take aim at their opponents.

Sky Sports analyst Don Goodman and promotion contenders Leeds United were among those targeted as Ipswich Town players celebrated their promotion.

The Tractor Boys have won back-to-back promotions under Kieran McKenna and are set to return to the Premier League for the first time in 22 years. The squad celebrated with a drunken open-top bus parade, with stars Luke Woolfenden among those who appeared in front of Sky Sports cameras.

“Leeds are falling apart again,” to the tune of Joy Division’s ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’, was one of the more popular chants among those rejoicing. Daniel Farke’s team had 86 points with six games remaining, but they only won one of them, finishing third.

Leeds’ collapse allowed Ipswich to finish second behind Leicester, but promotion was not formally confirmed until the last day. A win over relegated Huddersfield, along with Leeds’ defeat to Southampton, resulted in a more comfortable six-point margin.

“For six weeks now I’ve listened to Don Goodman tell us we’re not good enough to do anything in the Prem like we did in the Champ,” Woolfenden stated. “We’ll still finish mid-table [in the Championship], Don, but don’t worry about it.”

After being briefly halted by another Leeds-themed chant, the defender said, “This group can do whatever we want, man.” We’ve worked really hard.”

Ipswich supporters circulated another video on social media, believing it showed an interviewer being instructed to remove the Goodman and Leeds components. If such was the case, he did not have much success.

“[It’s] an amazing feeling, you know, we created history,” winger Omari Hutchinson told Sky Sports. “We’re just celebrating with the fans; they haven’t done this in 22 years, and I’m proud to be a part of that history.

When asked what allowed the team to thrive, the Chelsea loanee replied, “The squad’s and manager’s togetherness. He’s put full belief in everyone and that’s given us full confidence to go out on the pitch and demonstrate what we’re all capable of.

“I wasn’t here for League One, so I didn’t know what to expect, but I knew I was joining a team of boys who were full of confidence and motivation to succeed.” For me, it was simply obtaining first-team experience and settling in with the team, but we persevered and performed admirably, resulting in a significant accomplishment.
