Ipswich Town offer bold £30m+ double transfer moves

Ipswich Town have submitted a £30 million+ bid for Hull City’s Jaden Philogene and Jacob Greaves.

According to Football Insider, Kieran McKenna and co. want to sign two big players from the Championship, which they left behind when they were promoted automatically in May.

When teams get promoted to the Premier League, Ipswich takes a different approach than the more typical one of signing players with top-tier experience.

The two under-23s have demonstrated their ability at the Championship level, and McKenna is clearly confident that they will be able to duplicate that form at the top level.

Town have already signed former West Ham United defender Ben Johnson, as well as Chelsea loanee Omari Hutchinson, on a permanent basis.

Hull has already lost Ozan Tufan during this window. The 29-year-old offensive midfielder left Humberside to return to Turkey and join Trabzonspor.

Hull City duo Jaden Philogene and Jacob Greaves attracting Premier League interest

Philogene and Greaves have also piqued the curiosity of other top division teams this season as a result of their outstanding 2023/24 seasons.

They have both been linked with Everton this summer, with Philogene also being pursued aggressively by Spanish powerhouse Barcelona.

According to Football Insider, West Ham conducted negotiations with the Championship side about prospective deals for both the central defender and the winger.

Acun Ilicali, Hull’s owner, has stated that he will not stand in the way of players who wish to leave City.

He told Liverpool World: “Of course, if you ask me, I assured my fans that I would never sell anyone. My goal in football is not to gain money, but to build a stronger and larger club.

“But to build a bigger club, if a player decides he wants to leave, that’s another story. For me, changing one player does not mean the end of the road.

“But if any of my players, I will never want to ruin their career or their mood because by pushing them because there is a contract.”

Ipswich Town may present the best top flight opportunity for Hull pairing

There is no shortage of interest in Philogene and Greaves from factions above their level. Even if they do not go during this window, if they continue on their current paths, they will play in the Premier League at some point, whether with the Tigers or elsewhere.

The issue then becomes, where are they going. The Tractor Boys, Toffees, and Hammers all have various strengths and fall on opposite sides of the spectrum.

There may be a possibility to compete in European events at the London Stadium. However, until some of their stars leave, they will likely struggle for game time.

Merseyside’s blue half will soon have a new stadium, but they are likely to finish lower in the table as things are.

As are Ipswich, but if it comes down to it, Philogene, Greaves, or both, may decide where will provide them with the most opportunity to demonstrate their abilities.

The duo would probably hope that a move to any of those three teams would not be their final one in football. They’d almost certainly want to go one better at some point. That won’t be as easy if they’re on the bench.

At Portman Road, you’ve got a manager who knows how to get the most out of young players, as well as a team that Greaves and Philogene could potentially break into, and if an offer is approved, it should make their decision much easier.
