Ipswich Town needs to politely reject any transfer requests from West Ham

Few players have been as good in the second division as Leif Davis, and Ipswich Town have had an incredible start to their time back in the Championship.

Last season, the left-back was named to the NFL League One team of the season and recorded 14 assists.

The 24-year-old is no stranger to this level, having previously played briefly for both Leeds United and Bournemouth. However, he will have been hoping to advance further with a season in the Championship.

After spending four seasons in League One, Ipswich made their way back to the Championship with Kieran McKenna leading them to second place with 98 points. They are again among the clubs fighting for automatic promotion once more this season.

Even though the Tractor Boys were thrilled to have made it into the second division, they would have been even more motivated to advance and not just finish in the Championship the next season. They would have been looking forward to 2023–2024 and wanting to push themselves even more.

A lot of people would contend that McKenna had a team last year that was ready for a higher league, and they strengthened it even more by adding players in the summer transfer window.

Maybe the best example of a player who needs to step up and does it comfortably is Davis. His contributions to 25 games across all competitions have already seen him pick up where he left off in the third tier, contributing 12 assists.

West Ham linked to Ipswich’s Leif Davis

Given that Davis has established himself as one of the finest attacking left-backs in the second division, top-tier teams were sure to take notice of his form and inquire about him.

Although Kieran McKenna’s team is now second in the standings and would hate to lose Davis as they hope to return to the Premier League, they may have to fight to keep him for the next few weeks.

The Tractor Boys’ recent success has been greatly attributed to Davis, who has advanced to the Championship this season with ease.

Leif Davis will be a key player for Ipswich’s promotion push

Davis, a vital member of Ipswich’s squad, may be causing Leeds regrets right now as his team is currently fighting for promotion and Davis was sold for a seven-figure sum in the summer of 2022, roughly £1 million.

With just over a week remaining in the transfer window, Ipswich cannot afford to lose him and hope to replace him, but there is no denying his brilliance.

Davis is too valuable to replace, whether he is playing as the offensive left-back in a back four or as the left wing-back in a back five, as he has been for the majority of the season. Davis’ threat is needed, whether it comes from set pieces or his productivity in open play. even if West Ham tries to recruit him for ridiculously high money.

Since Aaron Cresswell, another former Ipswich player, is getting older and yet very talented with wicked deliveries from his left foot—something that West Ham and Ipswich supporters are already familiar to—it makes sense from their point of view.

Although Davis might be tempted to move to the top division, it makes sense for him to stay in Suffolk while he is still got the chance to play in the Premier League in a few months.

Davis, Nathan Broadhead, Luke Woolfenden, and Conor Chaplin are just a few of the players that cannot afford to be moved this month. McKenna must hope that all of their important players stay healthy in addition to retaining them.

Due to their importance and potential to sabotage Ipswich’s promotion push, they have been a mainstay of McKenna’s strategies and playing style for the better part of two seasons.
