Ipswich Town midfielder extends contract until 2025

Massimo Luongo, a midfielder for Ipswich Town, has agreed to a new one-year contract with the Championship team that is vying for promotion.

The 31-year-old was in the last six months of his previous contract when he decided to focus on Ipswich’s attempt to make it into the Premier League. He just resigned from playing football for Australia.

He was crucial to Ipswich’s promotion from League One the previous season, and he has been once more this year.

According to Luongo, “I adore everything about being here,” the club website said.

“Now that this is finished, I can focus on finishing the balance of the season and doing everything I can to support the squad,”

Luongo, who was once on loan from Tottenham in 2012, is currently in his second stint with the Tractor Boys. He has played for Swindon, Sheffield Wednesday, QPR, and Middlesbrough.

After returning to them in January of the previous season, he scored two goals in 16 appearances, helping them in their drive for promotion from the third division.

Luongo has made 26 appearances this season and scored twice in the Championship.

He was instrumental in helping Ipswich move back up to second place in the standings on Monday. Jeremy Sarmiento scored after his late attempt was saved, giving the team a point against leaders Leicester.
