Ipswich Town man wanted in new transfer deal this summer

Bristol Rovers manager Matt Taylor has stated that the club will hold ‘conversations’ with Ipswich Town regarding Elkan Baggott’s prospective return.

Bristol Rovers signed the defender on loan during the January transfer window.

Baggott, 21, is set to return to Portman Road by the conclusion of the season.

Taylor has said, as per a report by BristolLive: “Anyone that performs like that you always want to keep as a manager. We will have those conversations further down the line but first things first for him is finish the season well, stay fully fit and healthy and then he’ll go back to his parent club whose league will still be going on and see where that takes him.”

Ipswich Town man wanted back by Bristol Rovers

Baggott has made 13 appearances for Bristol Rovers since his winter move, bolstering their defensive ranks.

Ipswich Town must decide what to do with him before the start of the next season. He is under contract with the Championship promotion hopefuls until June 2025, thus he still has more than a year left on his contract.

The Indonesian international, who has 24 caps to date, rose through the Tractor Boys’ youth ranks and has appeared seven times for the first squad.

He has previously had loan spells at King’s Lynn Town, Gillingham, and Cheltenham Town to gain experience.
His chances of breaking into Ipswich Town’s starting XI under Kieran McKenna are limited right now, and they would be even slimmer if they were promoted to the Premier League. They are currently competing at the top of the standings against Leicester City, Leeds United, and Southampton.

With Bristol Rovers considering a possible reunion, another exit could be a wise move.

The Gas have a busy summer ahead as ex-Exeter City and Rotherham United manager Taylor aims to imprint his own style on the club. They play Wigan Athletic away on the last day this weekend.
