Ipswich Town is currently trying to “thrash out” a deal for the 13-goal forward

Leeds United and Ipswich Town are two of the teams competing for automatic promotion, but it seems the former is going to emerge victorious in the pursuit of a new player.

Leeds has not yet entered the market, but they are eager to bolster their team before today’s deadline, since they require players at both ends of the field.

Daniel Farke said that while at least one full-back is required, another center-back may be added.Leeds is still making an effort to sign Burnley’s Manuel Benson.

As a result of Patrick Bamford’s recent form and Joel Piroe’s current bench-warming status, the striker position is not one that will require much attention over the course of the next week.

Leeds has still been connected to a few players, though, including Ali Al-Hamadi of AFC Wimbledon, who has led League Two with 13 goals and six assists this year.

Ipswich set to ‘thrash out’ Al-Hamadi deal

Leeds, however, is beginning to seem less and less inclined to pass on signing him, as the East Anglian Daily Times reports that Ipswich Town is eager to “thrash out” a deal.

The 21-year-old, who is presently traveling with Iraq for the Asia Cup, has won all three of their group stage games, including one against Japan, and is certain to advance far in the competition.

Any team hoping to acquire Al-Hamadi will need to fork over a record transfer fee to AFC Wimbledon—roughly £1 million.

Although manager Johnnie Jackson has stated in the past that his team is not under any pressure to sell him this month, it will be difficult to turn down a sizable offer and the chance for Al-Hamadi to play for a premier Championship team.

Leeds is unlikely to make a move for Al-Hamadi before the transfer window closes, but if he does end up at Ipswich, they will be hoping that their decision does not come back to haunt them.
