Ipswich Town embarks on ambitious pursuit of Arsenal striker

TEAMtalk reports that Ipswich Town are interested in signing Arsenal striker this summer.

Ipswich Town are hoping to bring the attacker to Portman Road in the upcoming transfer window as they prepare for life in the Premier League after being promoted from the Championship.

Nketiah, 24, has seen his playing time at the Emirates Stadium dwindle in recent months and is being linked with a move before next season.

According to TEAMtalk, the Tractor Boys have identified him as a prospective target as they want to expand their roster. Crystal Palace, according to the source, are also interested in signing him and have been ‘long-term’ admirers.

Nketiah might help Ipswich Town improve their front-line options. They will need some reinforcements in their ranks if they want to compete in the top division in the coming season.

The once-capped England player, who formerly played for Chelsea, has been with Arsenal since 2015.

He rose through the Gunners’ ranks and was a regular at several youth levels.

In 2017, Nketiah was loaned out to Leeds United in the second tier by former manager Marcelo Bielsa to gain experience. However, this is the first occasion he has been loaned by his present club.

He has made 168 appearances for Arsenal’s first squad and scored 38 goals, six of which came this season.

Mikel Arteta’s team is presently vying for the crown with Manchester City, and the Lewisham native is primarily employed as a backup right now.

His contract at the Emirates Stadium expires in June 2027, so the Gunners are not under any hurry to sell him right away and can wait for the perfect offer to come in for his services.

Big summer ahead for Ipswich Town

It goes without saying that Ipswich Town must focus on their recruitment over the next few months in order to have the best opportunity of remaining in the league.

Kieran McKenna has done an excellent job with recruitment since taking over, and he will need to do so again as he attempts to help his players adjust to life at the highest level.

Nketiah would be an eye-catching addition for the Tractor Boys if they could overcome competition from rivals such as Crystal Palace, and he has already demonstrated his ability to score goals.

He needs to go somewhere where he is valued, and moving to Suffolk would almost certainly result in more minutes.
