Ipswich Town CEO Mark Ashton has indicated that there will be further additions to Kieran McKenna’s squad this summer, in addition to the five players who have already arrived at Portman Road.

The Blues have already signed last season’s loan standout Omari Hutchinson, former West Ham United defender Ben Johnson, Hull City’s Jacob Greaves, Manchester City’s Liam Delap, and Burnley’s goakeeper Arijanet Muric.

With three weeks until Town’s home opener against Liverpool (Saturday, August 17, 12.30 p.m.), fans should anticipate Town to strengthen their squad even more.

“Five in, and that’s not the end of it,” Town’s CEO told TownTV.

“Fans will realize that we are aggressive with transfer windows.

“I believe we have done well in prior windows in other leagues, and I believe we will continue to do so in the coming weeks, with additional players arriving ahead of the season.

“It’s a challenging window. We’re swimming in a larger pond than we’ve ever been in before.

“The modifications are the same, but with considerably larger numbers. And when working with significantly larger numbers, the margin for error is much smaller.

“I believe what you’ve seen from myself and Kieran (McKenna) is that we’ve adhered to our plan.

“Very talented people have come into the building on the pitch, who will grown with us, and Kieran’s been very clear and very diligent in the work that he’s been doing.”

Town will play their second preseason friendly against 2. Bundesliga side Fortuna Düsseldorf at Portman Road later today (3pm).
