Ipswich to sign a player to overcome Norwich for “genuine talent”

With the goal of securing their spot in the Premier League just one year after being promoted to the Championship, Suffolk Town has so far had a busy transfer window.

Lewis Travis of Blackburn Rovers and Jeremy Sarmiento of Brighton & Hove Albion are two new players whom Kieran McKenna has welcomed into the team. The Tractor Boys are now focused on a potential star and the summer transfer window, though.

News of the Ipswich transfer

With just one victory in their past seven Championship games—against Sunderland—Ipswich currently sit just one point clear of the automatic promotion spot. McKenna will be hoping that his additions will be sufficient to stave off Southampton and Leeds United’s charge, as they are more vulnerable than ever to losing their promotion berth.

Speaking about Sarmiento’s arrival, McKenna told Suffolk News, “We are absolutely thrilled to have him.” Sarmiento recently scored the club’s first goal to force a late 1-1 draw against Leicester City. We believe that we have a good understanding of this player. We have spoken to him for a good amount of time and have observed him for a long time—both for West Brom this year and for Brighton last year.”

The Tractor Boys have now turned their attention to the summer after bringing Travis on board with the Brighton player. Lewis O’Donnell was being watched by the Suffolk team when he was on loan at Kelty Hearts from Dundee United, according to The Daily Record. The 18-year-old midfielder’s Scottish contract expires in the summer, therefore any move would be made during that window.

But Ipswich is not the only team interested in O’Donnell; Watford and Norwich City, O’Donnell’s bitter rivals, are also considering a move for the midfield jewel. This may be a competitive competition for O’Donnell’s services.

O’Donnell is a “real talent”

O’Donnell is extremely skilled, as evidenced by the fact that Championship teams are showing interest in him at the age of 18. O’Donnell primarily plays as a central midfielder, although his versatility makes him interesting to watch. The young Scotsman may play attacking midfield, on the left or right side of midfield, and in the center of midfield, giving McKenna the best option going forward if Ipswich decide to move forward. There are supporters of O’Donnell at Dundee United as well.

O’Donnell thought that a club like Ipswich would be a great place to go next. Whether it is this season or in the near future, McKenna’s team is rising, and the teen’s development would only be accelerated by being a part of such a team. To find a potential star to work under McKenna’s tutelage, Ipswich must first defeat Norwich and Watford in the race.
