Ipswich regained second place in the Sky Bet Championship after a 2-0 win

Kieffer Moore clinched Town’s victory after Conor Chaplin’s drive was deflected in by home defender Brendan Galloway in the 63rd minute.

The goalkeeper palmed the ball to Darko Gyabi, but the Leeds loanee sent a vicious low shot just wide of the post from the edge of the area.

Ipswich reacted, with Moore’s header forcing Argyle goalkeeper Conor Hazard into a save in the 14th minute.

Hladky did well to save Adam Randell’s inswinging corner as the home side attempted to put pressure on their high-flying visitors.

Omari Hutchinson had a goal-bound attempt saved after being set up by outstanding midfielder Jeremy Sarmiento.

Whittaker’s 25-yard attempt was stopped in the 35th minute, but it fell to attacker Ryan Hardie on the edge of the box, where his rising drive went just over.

Shortly after, Ipswich defender Luke Woolfenden made a great clearance off the line to save Mickel Miller’s volley.

Ipswich pressed toward the conclusion of the half, and a diving header from a defender cleared Leif Davis’ corner from the right at the near post.

Whittaker attempted an ambitious chip from 40 yards after finding Hladky off his line early in the second half, but the ball sailed just over.

Moore was denied again by Hazard in the 55th minute, this time after the striker headed goalwards from Davis’ far-post cross from the left.

Hutchinson curled a shot just past of the far upright after 56 minutes, leaving Hazard beaten, then forced a wonderful diving stop from the keeper on the hour.
