Ipswich make bold approach for permanent signing of Omari Hutchinson

TEAMtalk can exclusively reveal that Ipswich Town will make a risky move this summer to capture Chelsea’s Omari Hutchinson on a permanent basis.

Ipswich are back in the Premier League, and work on their summer transfer window has begun, with the goal of remaining in the world’s toughest level next season. Sources have revealed to TEAMtalk that Chelsea will give Hutchinson a new deal, but Ipswich want to keep him for next season.

A loan is the most likely outcome, but there will be an attempt to sign the winger permanently, and insiders believe Chelsea will accept a good price.

Hutchinson’s current deal at Stamford Bridge runs until 2025, and given how well he has performed while on loan, some Chelsea officials want to retain him around for the foreseeable future. However, the fact that his departure would be recorded as a clean profit on the books appeals to the Chelsea board, which hopes to generate a considerable amount of revenue from sales this summer.

The board hopes to generate up to £200 million in revenue over the next few months, with player sales accounting for a significant chunk of that total. This makes a move for Hutchinson more likely, and Ipswich are his preferred destination following a fantastic loan spell with the club.

He joined the newly promoted Championship side last summer and hasn’t looked back. He was used as an impact player in the early part of the season, but he has been a more consistent starter since the turn of the year.

In 44 league appearances, Hutchinson has 10 goals and six assists. With a total of 2179 minutes played, the average goal contribution time is 136 minutes.
