Ipswich approved as Premier League team after gaining  interest in AGM

Ipswich Town was recognized as a Premier League club during today’s Annual General Meeting.

The division has officially transitioned from the 2023/24 campaign to the 2024/25 campaign, with the tables reset ahead of the new season, which begins on the weekend of August 17th.

The Premier League issued the following statement: “Following their respective promotions from the EFL Championship, Leicester City, Ipswich Town, and Southampton can now officially state that they are members of the Premier League.”

“The three relegated clubs – Burnley, Luton Town, and Sheffield United – have returned the share certificates that granted them Premier League status, and the Premier League Board has confirmed the cancellation of these shares.”

“The Premier League directors and company secretary signed a new share certificate for each of the promoted clubs.” The three clubs were added to the share register in accordance with business legislation.

“As a result, the confirmation of the three promoted clubs as members of the Premier League has taken place, with the League formally welcoming them by awarding them their framed share certificates.”

Ipswich CEO Mark Ashton stated via Town TV that he would attend the meeting to accept the Premier League share certificate on behalf of the club.

Clubs will also vote on Wolves’ proposal to eliminate Video Assistant Referee [VAR] technology, which is anticipated to fail, as well as other resolutions concerning anchoring and Profit and Sustainability Rules [PSR].

The Premier League fixtures for the 2024/25 season will be revealed at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18th.
