Interesting wideout wants to see Michigan football in the transfer portal

Former Indiana quarterback and wide receiver Donaven McCulley announced on Wednesday via the transfer portal that he had received an offer from Michigan football.

Cornelius Johnson and Roman Wilson, Michigan football’s two best wide receivers, will probably need to be replaced before the team plays its next season.

Wilson might use that year to come back if he so desired. However, Johnson will not be able to play against Ohio State again after two seasons of huge performances.

On the depth chart, the Wolverines have a number of reliable choices, including Tyler Morris, Semaj Morgan, Darrius Clemons, and others. However, a tested veteran is always beneficial, and Michigan football showed that they were still active in the transfer portal on Wednesday by making Donaven McCulley an offer.

At 6-feet-5, McCulley weighs 205 pounds. In his previous profession, he was a quarterback as well and had a touchdown pass versus Michigan. However, McCulley moved to wide receiver during the previous season, where he has caught 64 passes for 813 yards and seven touchdowns.

McCulley has caught 48 catches for 644 yards and six touchdowns this season. Against Penn State, he had four receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown in addition to catching 11 passes for 137 yards.

Among the teams that will offer McCulley on Wednesday are the Wolverines, who this season has averaged over 13 yards per reception. Nebraska was another, and the former Indiana wide receiver stated he already wants to visit Ann Arbor, so there will undoubtedly be fierce competition.

“Michigan definitely grabs my attention,” McCulley stated to 247 Sports’ Steve Wiltfong. “I want to go up there as quickly as I can.”

The Wolverines could use a large wideout like McCulley, and Michigan had success this past offseason by signing A.J. Barner and Jack Tuttle, both of whom were former Indiana players.

This season, Barner has emerged as one of the Wolverines’ outstanding players. If he chooses to go, there’s no doubt that the NFL will be interested in signing him. Perhaps McCulley will go the same way as him.
