Injury Update: Seahawks QB shares unsettling images of his injury

On Thursday Night Football, quarterback Geno Smith of the Seattle Seahawks was unstoppable, but it seems the seasoned player was in significant pain.

On Saturday, December 2, Smith posted a few unsettling images of his bruised elbow on X, the former name of Twitter. “Nobody cares,” is how the 33-year-old captioned the photo. Put in more effort at work. Smith removed the pictures later, but it was too late.

The images created quite a stir on social media because most fans and commentators were unaware of Smith’s situation. Smith did not display any signs of an injury against the Cowboys. He threw for 334 yards, three touchdowns, and a rushing touchdown in one of his best games of the year.

One fan reacted, “God damn Geno’s elbow was F***** up,” while another person wrote, “What a tough guy Holy s*** 💀.”

“That is/was a gnarly bruise on Geno Smith’s throwing arm from a hit he took vs. the Rams in Week 11,” wrote Brady Henderson of ESPN. “Smith hardly threw the next three days leading up to Thanksgiving vs. the 49ers. He had a normal practice week leading into Dallas and played lights out (season-best 91.3 QBR).”

Despite playing through discomfort on Thanksgiving Day, Smith sustained an elbow injury during the Seahawks’ 17-16 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 11. Smith threw zero touchdowns in Seattle’s humiliating 31-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. 18 out of 27 passes for 180 yards and a pick were completed by him.

Pete Carroll Said Seahawks QB Geno Smith’s Elbow Was Much Better Heading Into Cowboys Showdown

Although Smith’s health was a major worry going into Week 13, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll was ecstatic about how much the player had improved since Thanksgiving.

Carroll told reporters, “The difference was night and day,” on November 26. “He was running practice and entertaining us like he does every week by flinging the football everywhere. He carried that out precisely. He was aggressive the entire time, which wasn’t the case last week. Although we don’t want to draw attention to it, it was clear that there was a significant difference.

Prior to their rematch with the 49ers (8-3), the Seahawks (6-6) must endure a difficult week after suffering a devastating 41-35 loss to Dallas. Carroll’s remarks suggest that Smith and his throwing arm will benefit greatly from the additional rest.

Geno Smith Took Responsibility for the Seahawks’ Loss in Dallas

The offense as a whole had an outstanding game, even though Smith and company made a huge mistake on their last offensive drive against the Cowboys.

“I believe we simply went out and engaged in our game. We played quickly. Nobody hesitated. Smith told reporters, “Everyone was out there just having a good time.” “I believed that this focus and motivation were shared by all. We were eager to go and complete the task. In a game like this, losing is difficult. Good game with lots of back and forth. However, we got the ball last. We were in a position to win it. I thought we had let ourselves down.

While the offense is happy to have finally broken out of its rut, moral victories are insufficient, according to the NFL’s 2022 Comeback Player of the Year.

We have to keep developing every week. That’s just how this game works,” Smith remarked. It will be difficult from week to week. It doesn’t matter what play calls Shane Waldrone, the offensive coordinator, makes. It’s important that we go out and perform. Yes, we can expand upon it. But above all, it’s about coming out on top. We didn’t do that today.
