Injury Update on the Eagles’ QB Ahead of the Buccaneers’ Wild Card Game

Last week, the Eagles’ quarterback suffered a finger injury on his throwing hand, and we now have an update as we approach the Wild Card showdown on Monday night.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the NFC South on Sunday, defeating the Carolina Panthers 9-0 to secure their postseason position. The Buccaneers then had to wait and watch how the last slate of games played out to find out who they would face in the Wild Card round – the Dallas Cowboys or the Philadelphia Eagles.

#Eagles QB Jalen Hurts underwent X-rays that showed no fracture in the middle finger on his throwing hand that he dislocated Sunday, per sources. Hurts said he’s taking it day-by-day, and he has an extra day: Philadelphia visits Tampa Bay for an NFC wild-card game Monday night.

As the Eagles and Cowboys games progressed, it became clear that the Bucs would be hosting the Eagles, a team they lost 25-11 to in Week 3 of this season.

The Eagles haven’t been the dominant club they appeared to be early in the season, and their most recent loss to the Giants on Sunday came after a few scares, including an injury to starting quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Hurts sustained a dislocated middle finger on his throwing hand during the game, but it looks he averted a more serious injury that would have prohibited him from playing in the Wild Card game against the Buccaneers.

Hurts avoided fracturing his finger completely when x-rays came back negative, and he will take things day by day as he prepares for Sunday’s chance to advance to the next round of the playoffs.

Because the game is scheduled for Monday Night Football, both teams will have an extra day to get fit and rest. Even with the extra day to recover, it will be interesting to watch how much the dislocation affects his passes when he returns to the game.
