After Monday night’s game at EverBank Stadium, the Jaguars’ biggest concern was definitely not an overtime loss to the Bengals.

With just under six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Trevor Lawrence seemed to have suffered a lower leg injury. As Lawrence was blocking a pass for Trey Hendrickson, left tackle Walker Little stepped on his ankle. The quarterback fell to the ground with his left leg all tangled.

After taking two limp steps in an attempt to stand up, Lawrence fell to his knees, punched the playing surface, and threw off his helmet. It took assistance to get the third-year professional off the field and into the training area.

Adam Schefter of ESPN gave a status update on Lawrence following the game.

“Sources said that Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence sprained his ankle during initial testing,” Schefter wrote on X, the platform that was formerly known as Twitter. Lawrence will be put through more testing on Tuesday and tonight to ascertain the severity of his injury and the duration of his absence.

On Monday night, C.J. Beathard took Lawrence’s spot. Should the 2021 No. 1 overall pick miss time, Beathard is expected to start for Jacksonville. The Indianapolis Colts and the Houston Texans are both just one game behind the Jaguars in the AFC South standings, even after their loss to the Bengals.

Jacksonville’s next two games, unfortunately, are against tough opponents. On Sunday, Pederson’s team will travel to Cleveland, home of the Browns, who have what is arguably the best defense in the NFL. In Week 15, the Jags will play host to the Baltimore Ravens, who are currently the best seed in the AFC.
