Injury Update: Kieran McKenna admits that Wes Burns injury could be serious
|Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna admits flying winger Wes Burns’ injury from yesterday might be catastrophic.
The Welshman, who has been in incredible form in recent weeks, limped off in the first half of Sheffield Wednesday’s 6-0 defeat after a trademark dash and cross.
The 29-year-old, who has five goals and three assists this season, was recently called up to Wales’ team for the crucial EURO 2024 qualifiers.
Asked about the injury after the game, McKenna said: “It doesn’t look great.
“The hamstring injury appears to be serious. I don’t think it’s a trivial issue.
“Of course, we’ll scan it over the following several days and evaluate it, but that’s today’s undeniable low point.
“Everyone in the dressing room feels bad for Wes. We just hope the severity isn’t as awful as it may be.”
