INJURY UPDATE: COLTS’ RB TO UNDERGO SURGERY SAYS JIM IRSAY

Running back Jonathan Taylor of the Indianapolis Colts will have surgery on his thumb on Wednesday, according to team owner Jim Irsay.

Taylor’s absence is expected to last no more than two or three weeks, according to the Colts.

Taylor was a key player for the Colts during their 27–20 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, playing the whole game. With 1:24 left in the game, Taylor, who had played 42 snaps and completed 15 carries, scored an eight-yard touchdown run to seal the victory for the Colts.

Taylor’s season has been hampered by injuries after a public contract standoff; the running back missed the first four games of the current campaign because of an ankle injury. After agreeing to a three-year, $42 million contract extension that ended the contract dispute, his performances have improved.
