Injury Update: Before visiting Deepdale, Preston North End opponent Millwall suffers yet another significant injury setback

Prior to their Deepdale matchup, Preston North End rivals Millwall are dealt another significant injury blow.

A further injury setback has been dealt to Millwall ahead of their Saturday trip to Preston.

Ryan Leonard, a utility player for the Lions, will be unable to play at Deepdale due to a fractured bone in his knee, according to manager Gary Rowett.

The loss occurs only a few days after Millwall learned that Kevin Nisbet and Duncan Whatmore, two strikers who are both out with hamstring ailments, won’t play against Ryan Lowe’s team. They joined a list of injured players that already included Ryan Longmore, Shaun Hutchinson, and Matijc Sarkic.

Leonard is thought to have sustained the injury during the Londoners’ 2-0 victory at Plymouth on October 3, despite playing through the agony against Hull the previous time out.

The 31-year-old club veteran has started Millwall’s last eight Championship games and has been an important contributor. This season, the former Sheffield United player has made 12 appearances in all competitions.

‘He’s got a cracked bone in his knee,’ Rowe told South London Press. We believe that he did it to hurt Plymouth. Despite an injury versus Plymouth, he was able to finish the game despite the event.

He later reported feeling sore. It appears likely that he will require some rest before finding out where it is. It’s a few weeks of rest. That is the prevalent perception of it. Even while it’s not perfect, things could be worse.

After a shaky start to the season, Millwall enters Deepdale in 15th place in the standings. When they return from the international break, they are now five points behind Lowe’s third-placed club (20 points), who is attempting to snap a three-game losing skid.

Leonard’s absence won’t help them at Deepdale, Rowett acknowledged.

Lenny provides you the opportunity to change formation without changing the team, he continued. “You can use him in a different position and then revert back,” he said.

Having flexibility is good, but having someone perform at a very, very high level is also nice.

He has been as effective as anyone in that position at center back because he can handle movement and pace as well as step in and participate.

He is just as good as everyone else on the team when he is healthy and available. He provides you with the strength and athleticism of the Premier League, which is difficult to find.
