After recovering from an injury, Michael Obafemi played for Burnley’s Under-21 team.

The 23-year-old’s severe hamstring injury, which necessitated surgery, has kept him off the field for the past four months.

When the striker was overseas in June on Republic of Ireland international duty, he took the blow.

However, Obafemi has since recovered and is back for the Under-21 team at Gawthorpe for their rivalry match against Blackburn Rovers.

Lawrence Vigouroux, CJ Egan-Riley, Han-Noah Massengo and Darko Churlinov also feature in the starting line-up.

After coming on loan from Swansea City in January, Obafemi made 14 appearances for Vincent Kompany’s team during the second half of the previous campaign.

After the season concluded, the relocation from South Wales was declared permanent.

Following surgery in the summer, Obafemi posted an encouraging report on his health on Instagram.

He wrote, “Surgery went well yesterday and I’m feeling good.”

It’s time to relax, but I can’t wait to see you Clarets soon and get back on the field with the fellas!

“I am grateful to the medical staff, physicians, and nurses who have supported me throughout the entire process.”

In other news, Nathan Redmond returned from injury on Saturday by substituting in for Burnley during their 3-0 loss to Brentford.

Although Ameen Al-Dakhil was seen as a fitness doubt prior to the game, he was declared fit. Meanwhile, Anass Zaroury, who had been absent from previous squads, returned.

Manuel Benson, Johann Gudmundsson, Jordan Beyer, and Hjalmar Ekdal are still out.
