The Indianapolis Colts ruled out one player Friday before of their Week 2 game against the Green Bay Packers.

After Friday’s practice, head coach Shane Steichen told media that safety Julian Blackmon was out with a shoulder injury.

Blackmon did not practice this week due to an ailment to the same shoulder that caused him to miss the last month of the 2023 season.

Steichen also stated that they do not believe it is a long-term harm.

Colts injury updates

With Blackmon out for at least Sunday’s game, the Colts are expected to have a safety tandem of Nick Cross and Rodney Thomas II. They could potentially promote Rodney Harrison Jr. off the practice squad.

Steichen also discussed many other players’ injury updates.

Wide receiver Josh Downs (ankle), defensive lineman DeForest Buckner (back), and defensive end Kwity Paye (hamstring) are all game-time decisions.

Meanwhile, kicker Matt Gay (hernia) will make his regular-season debut after having surgery following the preseason.

The Colts will disclose their final injury report, including designations, later on Friday.
