Indianapolis Colts include secondary aid in the PFF mock draft

Many media mock drafts suggest that the Indianapolis Colts should add a weapon for quarterback Anthony Richardson.

Brock Bowers, a Georgia Bulldogs tight end, has been a popular pick in recent mock drafts, but Trevor Sikkema of Pro Football Focus (PFF) took a different approach with his latest effort. He believes the Colts will draft Alabama Crimson Tide great cornerback Terrion Arnold.

“Cornerback is the biggest area of need for the Colts, and they’ll have a chance to get a good one here,” Sikkema said in an interview with PFF. “Arnold has elite size, ball skills, and movement skills to be a potential Pro Bowler.”

Arnold is the first cornerback off Sikkema’s mock draft board. His teammate, Kool-Aid McKinstry, was seen as the greater prospect at the start of the season. However, Arnold outperformed McKinstry in 2023, surpassing his colleague as the more likely top pick.

Sikkema believes McKinstry will be selected by the Eagles with the 22nd pick. Like most, he expects free agency wide receiver Michael Pittman to return to the Colts, otherwise his top priority may shift to No. 15.

If his mock draft pans out close to way he predicts, and they never really do, the Colts would still have a shot at an offensive player like Bowers. He is selected with the 18th overall pick by the Cincinnati Bengals.

Bowers follows two different lines of thought. He’s the top non-quarterback offensive skill player on the board and may be selected by the Chargers as high as No. 5. Alternatively, the tight end position is not valuable enough to warrant a pick in the first half of the NFL Draft.

The Colts would prefer to be in a position to make that decision with both Arnold and Bowers on the board when the time runs. The NFL Draft begins Thursday, April 25th, at 8 p.m. EST. The Colts hold their own picks in each of the seven rounds, at 15, 46, 82, 117, 149, 192, and 231.
