Indianapolis Colts chose to surprisingly part ways with four-time All-Pro linebacker

Shaquille Leonard, a four-time All-Pro linebacker, reportedly told the Indianapolis Colts that he would only seriously consider signing with the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles as his next team after they decided to part ways.

For any opponent of the Cowboys, Leonard’s addition to arguably the best defense in the league in Dallas was unsettling; however, the addition of Leonard to the Eagles’ loaded roster was even more daunting, particularly for NFC teams aiming to contend for the Super Bowl.

Leonard ultimately decided to sign with the Eagles after seeing both of the NFC’s top teams. This is probably the best move given that the team’s attempt to stop the 49ers’ offense at home last Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field was unsuccessful.

Since Leonard has moved to Philadelphia, the Eagles will undoubtedly receive a defensive boost. However, Skip Bayless of FOX Sports, a vocal supporter of the Cowboys, contends that the Colts released the veteran linebacker for a reason and have now won four straight games without him.

It’s hardly shocking that Bayless would feel this way after Leonard decided against signing with the Cowboys, since he probably would have felt the opposite way if the seasoned linebacker had signed with Dallas.

It will be interesting to see if Leonard can improve the Eagles’ defense and if that ends up being the difference that allows this team to go to the Super Bowl for a second straight season, regardless of Bayless’ antics and opinions.
