In the 10th inning, Michael Harris II hits an RBI double, pushing Atlanta Braves to a 4-3 win against Miami Marlins

In the 10th inning, Michael Harris II doubled to bring home Ronald Acuña Jr., securing the Atlanta Braves’ 4-3 victory over the Miami Marlins.

This occured after the Braves squandered their two-run lead in the ninth inning, but they were able to hold on in the end. A.J. Minter earned the win by striking out Jazz Chisolm Jr. with the bases loaded.

The Braves have been playing well recently, winning nine of their past ten games. Harris lauded the team’s defense for giving them a chance to win with only one run remaining in the game.

Despite the heartbreaking loss, Marlins manager Skip Schumaker praised his team’s effort in rallying in the ninth inning against a formidable opponent. The Marlins knotted the game in the ninth after Braves closer Raisel Iglesias gave up two runs, his first blown save of the season.

However, the Braves regained their composure, and Harris’s double sealed the victory for them. Tanner Scott got the defeat for the Marlins, who have been swept three times this season.

Reynaldo López, a Braves pitcher, had an excellent outing, allowing only one run and three hits in seven innings while striking out six and walking two. In his first four starts with Atlanta, he has only allowed two runs in 25 innings, resulting in an impressive 0.72 ERA

Braves manager Brian Snitker hailed López’s impressive start, citing the team’s recent series of solid pitching efforts. Michael Harris had an outstanding day, going 3 for 5 with a run scored and the winning RBI. Marcell Ozuna also had a good game, hitting 3 for 4 with two RBIs to raise his season total to a league-leading 29.

Sixto Sánchez made his first start since 2020, but struggled, giving up three runs in just 2 2/3 innings. Jesús Sánchez broke the Marlins’ 21-inning scoreless streak with a 430-foot home run in the second inning.

Ronald Acuña Jr. walked and stole a base in the first inning, giving the Braves an early lead. He then scored on a balk, followed by an RBI single from Harris and a run-scoring single from Ozuna, giving the Braves a 2-0 advantage. Ozuna drove in another run in the third inning with a single after Matt Olson doubled, snapping Olson’s 0-for-25 hitting drought.
