In order to make a loan signing a permanent one in 2024, Leeds United already knows how much to pay

In the summer, Leeds United obtained Joe Rodon on loan from Tottenham, but Ange Postecoglou’s team first demanded a permanent deal of almost £15 million.

The Championship team led by Daniel Farke appears to be very good and has a solid chance of advancing automatically this year thanks to the club’s astute summer hiring.

Leeds did well to respond to a busy beginning to the window by replacing these guys with shrewd players who either had Championship experience or quality that was much above the league.

How is Joe Rodon doing these days?

Joe Rodon, one of two summer loan signings from Tottenham, joined Leeds as a right-center defender with Pascal Struijk after Liam Cooper’s ankle injury.

Struijk and Rodon have started seven games for Leeds and have yet to lose, giving up just five goals while recording four clean sheets.

The Wales international appears to be very at ease with what Daniel Farke has requested of him, and he would be a wise permanent addition should the Whites be able to talk that with Spurs in 2024, when Rodon will be entering the final year of his deal in North London.

What would his price be?

It’s difficult to imagine how much Spurs would get for him if they decided to sell him in less than a year after he signed on loan with what appears to be no option to buy.

Leeds’ standing in the Premier League or the Championship may have a significant impact, but The Athletic’s Phil Hay has revealed how much Spurs want from Leeds when they first enquired:

“Joe Rodon and Djed Spence were able to receive loans thanks to Angus Kinnear, the CEO of Leeds, who was able to leverage his positive working relationship with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.”

Leeds may be able to convince Daniel Levy to accept a lower offer because he has one year left on his contract at this £15 million price, but it’s obvious that there is a limit amount that the Whites may be required to pay.

If so, it may be a bargain price for Leeds should they be promoted and address the problem of keeping Ben White after a spectacular loan, which was something they completely failed at in 2020.
