Images: Ipswich Town supporter gets ‘euphoric’ BBC Radio Suffolk commentary tattooed

A football fan had BBC Radio Suffolk’s “euphoric” analysis on a goal tattooed.

Andy Cumbers had Brenner Woolley’s account of Jeremy Sarmiento’s last-ditch goal for Ipswich Town versus Southampton burned into his skin.

The Tractor Boys’ promotion to the Premier League was aided by the 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town.

Mr Cumbers said the tattoo elicited “a bit of reaction” on social media, but he had “no regrets”.

The body art on Mr Cumbers’ right torso runs from his ribcage to his hip.

He stated that the tattoo took approximately three hours to finish and was “a bit pinchy.”

Dan Thomas, a graphic designer and fellow Ipswich fan, created the print that inspired the design.

Mr Cumbers told BBC Radio Suffolk: “I was fortunate to be at the [Southampton] game and witness the goal firsthand.

“It was one of the most euphoric moments over the last 20 years [of Ipswich’s history]… but when you actually listen back to it – the commentary – Brenner captured it superbly.”

He said he “still gets goosebumps” after hearing the game commentary on April 1.

Ipswich secured their return to the top flight of English football for the first time since 2002 by defeating Huddersfield at Portman Road on May 4 and finishing second in the Championship.

Brenner Woolley said: “I’m obviously incredibly flattered.

“I loved Dan’s original artwork and for Andy to have it inked on him for posterity is mind-blowing.

“I genuinely think that moment, on Easter Monday, was the biggest single explosion of emotion I’ve witnessed in my 21 seasons of covering the club.

“Well done to the tattoo artist as well!”
