‘I really believe that’: Vincent Kompany assesses Burnley’s dismal start to the season before the international break

Vincent Kompany is adamant that Burnley will eventually receive their just desserts after a dismal start to the season.

Following their 3-1 loss to Arsenal on Saturday, Burnley has now dropped 10 of their first 12 games.

Sheffield United now sits atop the Premier League table with a pitiful four points after their draw with Brighton.

Though performances have at least improved in their last two games, against Arsenal and Crystal Palace, there remains a glimmer of hope.

Kompany now has two weeks to review and ponder during the international break, before his squad return with a home game against West Ham on Saturday, November 25.

After Burnley’s most recent loss at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, Kompany was asked to evaluate the current campaign.

“I think we knew it could be tough, we knew we were up against the best of the best,” he stated.

“I’ll tell you how I lived it; I lived it in such an incredible football club with such a wonderful set of individuals.

That’s the kind of bunch of folks you would want to surround yourself with in difficult times. It is what I have in the training area, what I have in the dressing room, and what I have when we play at Turf Moor. We work extremely hard there, and the staff members are the kind of athletes you want to support.

“I truly think they will be rewarded for it.”
