‘I like Michigan football’ to land blue-chip wide receiver in 2025 says recruiting expert

Michigan football has yet to land any commitments under Sherrone Moore, but Taz Williams is a name to remember for the Wolverines.

Michigan football has seen a lot of coaching staff upheaval this offseason, but one position will have the same assistant back: wide receiver.

Ron Bellamy has returned to Michigan football after signing an extension. He also established the title of passing game coordinator. Bellamy is an important member of the coaching staff, and he is an asset on the recruiting trail, as evidenced by the 2025 class, which includes wideouts such as Taz Williams.

Michigan football the among favorites for talented 2025 wide receiver

The 5-foot-11, 181-pound wideout from Red Oak, Texas is ranked 266th overall in the 247 Sports composite rankings. According to Chad Simmons of On3.com, his recruiting is developing into a “classic Michigan football and Ohio State battle.”

Williams had over 1,200 yards last season as a junior and plans to visit Texas A&M, Ohio State, and Arizona this spring or summer. After Harbaugh’s departure, it appeared like the Wolverines were out of the picture, but Bellamy’s efforts have had an impact and Michigan is back in the mix.

“I like Michigan in this one,” Simmons, the lead recruiting specialist for On3.com, said. We’ll see how hard the other schools press, but Michigan football hasn’t had much success landing highly regarded wideouts in recent years.

Williams is ranked No. 266. Alabama and USC are also in the mix, so a win in this recruitment would be important for the Wolverines, bringing another top-tier wide receiver to the team. Michigan football will need to get Williams on campus for a visit, as well as NIL, in order to win additional contested recruitments, but if Simmons is correct, it would be significant for the Wolverines.
