‘I believe in this team’: Burnley midfielder is optimistic for the future results

Josh Brownhill, a midfielder for Burnley, thinks there are many things to be happy about from the last two games, even though they were both losses.

The Clarets suffered their ninth straight Premier League defeat, falling to Arsenal 3-1, going into the international break.

Although Brownhill acknowledged that the team was disappointed with the outcome on Saturday, they thought they played well against strong opposition.

He stated, “I think everyone is frustrated because at the end of the day it’s a defeat, but there are a lot of positives to take.”

“I think we played excellent defense for the majority of the game. It’s never ideal to give up right before halftime, but we were still able to win. But it’s frustrating again to give in soon after.

“I felt that we appeared very sturdy. Not many teams will come here and produce as many opportunities as we did because we were still proficient with the ball. Additionally, scoring was favorable.

Brownhill’s equalizer in the second half was his second of the season; he had scored one in Spurs’ 5-2 home loss.

It was enjoyable; scoring is always pleasant. The 27-year-old remarked, “It was even sweeter to get us back level.”

Though it’s always good to score, the outcome detracts from the moment. I just wish it had gone longer before they scored.

When Brownhill comes to Turf Moor a week on Saturday to play West Ham, they will be hoping for a shift in attitude.

“The performances have been excellent, despite the fact that the outcomes haven’t gone our way.

“Getting started was always going to take a little while. There are still plenty of things to be happy with from the season, especially the past two games, but especially the strong showings from early on in the campaign against Man Utd, the first half at Luton, Forest, and other games.

But now is the moment to relax, recharge, and begin seeing benefits. We are only as good as we want to be, but the outcome matters most.

“It won’t be long before we start getting what we deserve because I believe in this team and what we can do and achieve this season.”
