Marc Roberts and Oliver Burke have resumed training after their individual injury stints.

The defender has not played since being replaced after 19 minutes of the Blues’ match against Middlesbrough last month, and the Werder Bremen loanee has not appeared since coming in as a second-half replacement in January’s Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round clash at Leicester City.

However, with three games remaining in the 2023/24 Sky Bet Championship season, both have had a full week of training before Birmingham City travels to Rotherham United for the first of these on Saturday, April 20 at 3pm.

Interim Manager Gary Rowett spoke to BluesTV at his pre-match news conference at the Birmingham City Elite Performance and Innovation Centre, updating supporters on Roberts’ and Burke’s availability and hinting at the team selection for the encounter against Steve Evans’ side.

“Marc Roberts and Oliver Burke have been training all week, as has Alex Pritchard. Jukey is a touch behind that, so we’ll just have to make excellent judgments.

“We have one or two players who have taken a knock in training, so we will have to be aware of those circumstances.

“In a perfect world, you’d go out there and choose the same team. Sometimes that is not what you get over the week, and you have to adjust things and make decisions that are either enforced or simply what you believe the game requires.”
