Has Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s signing with the Yankees been hinted at?

Although the New York Yankees appear unlikely to be done with their offseason, they have already made one significant move.

Even after the Yankees added Juan Soto to the squad, star Aaron Judge of the team made a clue about future transactions when speaking on FOX 5 in New York. Even though Judge expressed his satisfaction with the Soto trade, he hinted that the team was “looking forward to making a couple more” significant transactions in the near future.

It’s possible that Judge is referring to the Yankees’ well-documented pursuit of Japanese star Yoshinobu Yamamoto, even though he may not have firsthand knowledge. Even after acquiring Soto, the Yankees are still interested in Yamamoto, despite the pitcher’s estimated $200 million+ asking price on the open market. They’re up against fierce competition for him as well.

Judge is the captain of the Yankees, so he probably knows something. But regardless of what else the Yankees have planned, the slugging outfielder will need to make a change for 2024.
