‘Great individual display’, ‘9/10’ – Town Player Praised By Media

Ipswich Town earned a vital win over Rotherham United on Tuesday night, but they had to battle hard for it against the Championship’s worst club.

Ipswich Town were odds-on favourites to win last night’s game against Rotherham United. They eventually won, but the tie had many twists and turns.

In fact, the Millers seized the lead just two minutes in through Tom Eaves, but it didn’t last long. Wes Burns leveled the score with his first goal on a terrific individual night, and he then swung in a great cross for Kieffer Moore to score his fourth goal in five games.

Burns then made it 3-1 with his second of the night just before the half-hour mark and Town looked to be on course for a routine night.

Rotherham United, however, responded 15 minutes later by Hakeem Odoffin. They were then awarded a controversial penalty four minutes into stoppage time, which midfielder Cafu converted down the middle to secure a great point for Leam Richardson’s team.

Ipswich Town did, however, get one more chance, and Chelsea loanee Omari Hutchinson scored after some beautiful complex play.

Welsh star Burns made headlines with two goals and an assist in an intriguing Championship encounter, which ended chaotically. The EDT gave him a 9/10 for his effort and named him man of the match, as reported by Mark Heath.

“Bagged his fourth goal of the season just 10 minutes in, meeting Morsy’s cross with a textbook header back across the keeper and into the bottom corner. Then set up Moore’s strike with an inch-perfect first-time cross from the right before adding his second goal of the night with a tap in from the rebound of Leif Davis’ shot with less than half an hour on the clock.

“Came close to completing his hat-trick a couple of times. Great individual display.”

A big win

In an ideal world, Ipswich Town may have scored three points without such upheaval. However, they eventually won all three points, and their late winner could be key in the promotion chase.

Southampton suffered their second defeat in three games against Hull City, propelling Kieran McKenna’s team back to third place in the Championship table. Town are tied on points with in-form Leeds United and nine points behind league leaders Leicester City.

The battle for the top four may likely come down to the wire, and Ipswich Town is still in the mix.
