Michigan’s Grant Newsome turned down a financial position after college to pursue a coaching career at his alma mater.

Although head coach Jim Harbaugh and four on-field assistants left for the NFL this summer, Newsome said it was a simple decision to stay with the Wolverines under new coach Sherrone Moore.

Newsome, a former offensive lineman whose playing career was cut short by a devastating knee injury during his second season at Michigan, was recently elevated from tight ends coach to offensive line coach.

The 26-year-old signed a two-year agreement this summer and will earn $600,000 per year, more than doubling his income from 2023.
