Colts fans received a mixed bag of injury updates from head coach Shane Steichen on Tuesday regarding two key offensive players.

“According to head coach Shane Steichen on Tuesday, the Indianapolis Colts still expect star running back Jonathan Taylor to return at some point this late season. However, he ‘can’t say the same’ for 2nd-year tight end Jelani Woods whose return remains in jeopardy (via The IndyStar’s Nate Atkins)”

RECAP: Stroud injured as Texans lose to Jets 30-6

Nothing good happened here today.

“C.J. Stroud, who many had as a shoo-in for Offensive Rookie of the Year and possibly even MVP talk, left the game late in the fourth quarter under the concussion protocol and would not return to the game.”

Blame Game: Primetime Collapse Shines a Spotlight on the Dolphins Weaknesses

Who should shoulder the blame for the loss to the Tennessee Titans?

“There’s blame shared across the board. Tua Tagovailoa didn’t have a great game and couldn’t shoulder the load. The Dolphins came in injured and left even more injured. Costly penalties and miscommunications killed drives, and questionable play calling on both sides was the cherry on top. All in all, all those factors equal a loss more times than not, no matter who you’re playing.”

Patriots open offensive tackle Tyrone Wheatley Jr.’s 21-day window to return from injured reserve

The August trade acquisition was placed on injured reserve in October.

“Wheatley, 26, was placed on IR amid a series of roster moves on Oct. 14. He marked a late addition to the Week 6 injury report and subsequently went from limited to out due to knee issue.”

Buffalo Bills get massive help in AFC Playoff Picture during Week 14

A lot of underdogs won in Week 14.

“In addition to the Bills’ win, the Miami Dolphins fell on Monday night, meaning the Bills are just two games out of the lead in the division. Thanks, Tennessee! The New England Patriots and New York Jets both won, which normally wouldn’t be fun for us, but they both beat teams that were sitting in playoff spots ahead of Buffalo. Thanks Jets & Patriots! The Cincinnati Bengals even pulled out a win over the Indianapolis Colts, who were in a playoff spot, too. There are now six teams tied for the sixth and seventh spots in the AFC, and that group includes the Bills.”

2024 NFL Draft Order: Jets finish Week 14 with 7th pick

The Jets remain in the top ten after a win.

“If the season ended today, the Jets would pick 7th overall. They are one of six teams currently with a 5-8 record. The Bears (pick from Carolina), Patriots, Cardinals, and Commanders own the top four spots. Then comes the logjam of 5-8 teams. The first tiebreaker is strength of schedule. The worse your schedule, the better you do in the tiebreaker. The Jets have had a tougher schedule than their Bears (their own pick) and the Raiders so they fall behind those teams in the Draft order. The Jets’ schedule, however, has been easier than the Giants, Titans, and Chargers.”

Chiefs vs. Patriots Wednesday injury report: Isiah Pacheco remains out of practice

On Sunday afternoon, New England will host Kansas City.

“The Chiefs are still missing left tackle Donovan Smith (neck) and running back Isiah Pacheco (shoulder), who missed practice Wednesday after not participating in Sunday’s loss to the Buffalo Bills. TE Greg Dulcich has been designated to return from the injured reserve

Broncos tight end Greg Dulcich returned to practice today and this opens his 21-day window to be removed from the injured reserve.

“As we know, Dulcich has struggled with multiple hamstring injuries this season which has landed him on the injured reserve twice. Now, it appears, for the second time this season, the explosive tight end is nearing a return to the field. Head coach Sean Payton told reporters that Dulcich has “flown everywhere” to rehab his hamstring and has seen multiple specialists to figure out why he continues to hurt his hamstring. Hopefully, these specialists and rehabbing will stop these nagging hamstrings from happening and he can be productive on the football field for the Broncos.”

Justin Herbert officially ruled out for remainder of 2023 season

Herbert will finish Year 4 of his career with 3,143 passing yards and 20 touchdowns.

“Like we all expected, Chargers starting quarterback Justin Herbert has officially been ruled out for the rest of the 2023 season following surgery to repair the fractured right index finger he sustained during Sunday’s loss to the Broncos. Easton Stick will now lead the offense for the remaining four games of the regular season. The news was first reported by NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo.”

Injury News: Maxx Crosby, Josh Jacobs, Kolton Miller and Andre James listed as DNPs on Tuesday

Raiders held a walkthrough but those four were estimated as no-gos had they held a full practice.

“With the short turnaround as the Las Vegas Raiders play the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday Night Football in Week 15, the Raiders have only conducted walkthroughs instead of full practices so far this week. However, starters Maxx Crosby (knee), Josh Jacobs (quad), Andre James (ankle) and Kolton Miller (shoulder) were estimated as non-participants had the team held a full practice.”

Steelers playoff hopes dwindling ahead of Week 15

“Their next two games against the Indianapolis Colts and Cincinnati Bengals will likely decide their playoff fate. But if they can win both, they will probably have to snag a win in just one of their last two games against Seattle or Baltimore to get into the playoffs.”
