Good News: Seahawks targeting for RT to return vs. Cowboys

This is the article for you if you’re looking for some positive news about the Seattle Seahawks!

Abe Lucas, the starting right tackle, is expected to play against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday after missing the second half of the team’s opening day loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Lucas’s participation was not explicitly committed to by Pete Carroll, but this appears to be the goal.

Lucas went back to practice two weeks ago, but Carroll ruled him out of both the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers games despite his status being classified as questionable. Lucas was deemed a full participant in a walkthrough estimation, which is as encouraging as it gets in terms of his return.

Soon, practice will resume regularly, so we’ll be able to assess Lucas’s readiness more accurately. Due to an unidentified knee injury, he was placed on injured reserve. Last week, he was activated and given permission to resume practicing. For the first time since opening day, the Seahawks would have their whole projected starting offensive line if he is able to play.

If Lucas is unable to play, Stone Forsythe and Jason Peters—who Carroll claims is “much better” after suffering a shoulder stinger against San Francisco—will likely be the starting right tackle duo. On the Cowboys front, that’s not exactly exciting news.

Remember that Seattle needs to release a player from the active roster in order to maintain the 53-man restriction if Lucas returns.
