According to a statement released by the English club, the cause was personnel concerns. Instead, Mönchengladbach’s U21 team will take on the Foals.
Mönchengladbach had wanted to conclude their training camp at Rottach-Egern with a high-level test match, but were disappointed when it was cancelled at the last minute. “Ipswich Town’s failure to honor their contractual commitments due to personnel issues is very disappointing and angering,” stated Mönchengladbach’s sporting director, Roland Virkus, on X (previously Twitter). Virkus and his crew were unable to find a new opponent on short notice, so they had no choice but to make the best of the situation. Ipswich Town only approached Mönchengladbach in the late hours of Thursday.
