The FA has punished Nottingham Forest player Morgan Gibbs-White after he ‘behaved in an unprofessional way and/or used abusive and/or insulting language’ towards the fourth official against Brighton & Hove Albion.
The English midfielder was sent off against the Seagulls for a second bookable offence following a crunching challenge in the middle of the pitch. Gibbs-White then expressed his displeasure with the officials, and he is now at risk of being suspended for an additional game as a result of his conduct.
The Tricky Trees held on to a 2-2 tie despite Gibbs-White’s late red card, while Nuno Espirito Santo was also sent to the stands.
Gibbs-White Could Recieve Extra Ban
The Forest midfielder has been charged
The FA has now confirmed that Gibbs-White and Espirito Santo have been charged for their behavior during Nottingham Forest’s match against Brighton. In addition, journalist Ryan Taylor has requested that Gibbs-White be suspended for an extra game, with a deadline of Friday to react…
“Morgan Gibbs-White at risk of extra game suspension after it’s alleged he ‘acted in an improper manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words’ towards fourth official after being sent off vs Brighton. Has until Friday to respond. #NFFC.”
Forest have two games before the international break against Fulham and Chelsea, so losing Gibbs-White would be a setback. The Midlands side is presently unbeaten in the Premier League, with Gibbs-White playing a significant role. They will be hoping that he is not banned for more than one game.
The Forest midfielder made a powerful challenge on Brazilian Joao Pedro late in the second half, and Gibbs-White promptly defended his innocence. Espirito Santo was furious at the dismissal and was also shown a red card, along with Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler.
