Georgia wide receiver is transferred to Syracuse football

Fran travels from Athens with a large frame.

The new Syracuse Orange head coach, Fran Brown, is still going strong in the recruiting game as he has brought in his first transfer and fourth new player for 2024.

With one more year of eligibility, 6’2″, 205-pound wide receiver Jackson Meeks will play his senior year at SU. He has played for the Georgia Bulldogs for the past three years, two of which he has spent as a coach under Brown.

Meeks was primarily useful on special teams for the Dawgs, though he did have 10 receptions for 132 yards. He was called a “special teams demon” by Georgia head coach Kirby Smart at a press conference earlier this year.

Meeks said to Mike McAllister, “Coach Fran and the new OC that he hired, they basically told me that I’d have a lot of opportunities.” To be honest, that’s all I really want. to get the chance to go up there and support the squad in winning.”

Meeks said that he continued to speak with Oronde Gadsden during his most recent official visit, suggesting that the standout receiver of the previous two seasons is contributing to the receivers room makeover.

The Phenix City, Alabama native had offers from Ole Miss, West Virginia, Liberty, and App State when he was a three-star prospect. During his time on the transfer platform, he did not publish any other offers. He DID, however, share the announcement of Mekhi Mews’s SU offer. Mews is another fascinating target for Brown; he has two years remaining on his eligibility.
