Georgia trade LB sees recognised faces during Arkansas visit

During his official visit to Arkansas, Georgia transfer linebacker Xavian Sorey Jr. was able to catch up with some old friends.

At 220 pounds and 6-3 in stature, Sorey arrived in Fayetteville late on Tuesday and departed at midday on Wednesday.

It went well, according to Sorey. “I got to see the coaches and all, so everything went good.”

As a senior at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, he was ranked No. 5 in the country as a linebacker and No. 46 overall in the 2021 class by On3.com’s industry ranking.

Sorey turned down offers from other programs, including Alabama, Clemson, Texas A&M, Tennessee, LSU, and Florida, in favor of Georgia.

He has some past with Travis Williams, the defensive coordinator at Arkansas. The great point of his trip was getting to see Williams again.

“It’s my first time seeing Coach T-Will since high school,” Sorey remarked. “It was nice being around Coach T-Will, as he recruited me heavily.”

Jaheim Singletary, a redshirt freshman defensive back from Arkansas, and Sorey were also able to close the gap. At Georgia, the two were teammates.

In 2023, Sorey had two starts for the Bulldogs, tallying 1.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 1 pass deflection, and 19 tackles overall.

In 12 of the 15 games in 2022, he played as a reserve linebacker and in kick coverage. He has only traveled to Arkansas thus far.

“Up until now, I have only traveled to Arkansas,” he remarked. “As of right now, I have no idea where I’m going other than Arkansas.”

According to Sorey, he is unsure of when he will decide.

During the visit, Jake Trump, senior defensive analyst and assistant linebackers coach, struck up a conversation with Sorey.

“It’s my guy,” Sorey exclaimed. “He has been guiding me throughout. I genuinely admire him, even if it was my first time meeting him. Everything has been sincere thus far.
