Georgia star reveals 3 NFL TE he admires

Many observers believe Brock Bowers will be selected in the top 15 in the 2024 NFL Draft, and with good cause.

The Napa, California native helped lead head coach Kirby Smart’s Georgia Bulldogs to two national championships and is recognized as one of the best receiving tight ends in recent college football history.

On Sunday, NFL journalist Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area shared Bowers’ list of three NFL tight ends who he either admires or emulates.

Bowers, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 240 pounds, said he grew up watching four-time Super Bowl winner Rob Gronkowski of the New England Patriots/Tampa Bay Buccaneers and considers “Gronk” a role model.

“I love watching Gronk,” Bowers said, adding, “I also love watching (George) Kittle and (Travis) Kelce.”

Bowers stated that Kelce, Kansas City’s three-time Super Bowl champion, has motivated him to enhance his game.

“We do some film study stuff with Georgia,” Bowers told NBC Sports Bay Area. “I love watching him play and try to learn some things from his game.”

Bowers has the potential to become one of the top tight ends in the NFL, possibly in his rookie season, much like Detroit Lions standout Sam LaPorta (86 catches, 889 yards, 10 touchdowns) did in 2023.

Bowers grew up in 49ers country and spent a lot of time watching Kittle, but he prefers to be picked seventh overall by the Tennessee Titans.

Bowers noted the success of Packers tight ends Tucker Kraft and Luke Musgrave, as well as the Buffalo Bills’ LaPorta and Dalton Kincaid, has fueled his desire to have an important rookie season.

“It’s exciting to see those young guys balling out because, obviously, my rookie year is coming up,” Bowers said. “I’d like to do the same thing, so it’d be good to kind of learn from those dudes and learn from what they did and what they did well.”

On Monday, CBS Sports predicted Bowers would be selected 12th overall by the Denver Broncos. His draft stock may have dipped recently as fast-rising quarterbacks J.J. McCarthy of Michigan and Jayden Daniels of LSU, as well as cornerback Terrion Arnold of Alabama, have advanced ahead of him.
