Georgia safety decommits from Bulldogs

Georgia’s 2025 recruiting class is down one recruit after the Cedartown (Ga.) prospect called off his commitment.

Georgia’s 2025 class lacks one of its commitments: Tae Harris.

The Cedartown (Ga.) safety, who had been committed to the Bulldogs since last summer, decommitted on Sunday. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound safety originally committed to Georgia on June 19. In recent months, he has begun to gain traction from a number of different programs.

Harris informed Dawgs247 that his communication with Georgia decreased around that time.

“Of course, they’ve been a little off with communication and stuff like that, but they are in Miami,” Harris remarked in December, when the Bulldogs attended the Orange Bowl. “They try to get to me as much as I can.”

Harris announced the news in a post on X.

“First and foremost, I’d like to thank God for gifting me with these possibilities. Without him, I am nothing. I’d like to thank everyone on the UGA staff for taking the time to recruit me and recognize my talent. Special appreciation to Coach McGee and Muschamp for their frequent visits this spring. Following careful contemplation and lengthy discussions with my mother and family, I would like to announce my withdrawal from the University of Georgia. “My recruitment is completely open,” he wrote.

As Harris mentioned in his essay, former Georgia co-defensive coordinator Will Muschamp was one of his primary lines of contact. That was his closest relationship as he dealt with position adjustments for Fran Brown, Donte Williams, and Travaris Robinson. Harris told Dawg247, as noted above, that he was getting more love from other programs. Muschamp had been the only Georgia coach to see him throughout the January contact session, before transitioning to an off-field analyst role.

Harris has lately received multiple offers from Colorado, Florida, UCF, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Southern California.

He was one of only a few commits who did not attend the junior day on January 13. Harris said he intended to be in Athens on January 3, but that is uncertain at this time.

With Harris’ decommitment, Georgia is down to five Class of 2025 commitments.
